Technical Information

General

First class Northern European pine is the foundation of all Lugarde summerhouses. In these countries governmental authorities exercise stringent supervision to ensure that more trees are planted than are cut down, so that the ecological balance perfectly is maintained.

Lugarde guarantee that they will choose only the highest quality materials and accessories, in the manufacture of their buildings.

The assembling of a Lugarde construction kit does not require more than an average technical and do-it-yourself skills, so you can assemble your summerhouse from the floor up to the roof. As a matter of course all summerhouses are provided with assembly instructions. However for an additional charge Mayk Timber Buildings can construct the building for you.

Guarantee

Lugarde guarantees all its summerhouses and log cabins for 5 years on manufacturing or construction defects. Such guarantees however only apply for those products which have been installed and which are treated according to the instructions and directions of the manufacturer. Wood is a unique, natural product and the finish on boards will therefore vary. Variation will therefore be seen as coarse of fine grains and shades of colour. Such properties are normal in wood and cannot be considered as a defect. This has to be accepted as an unavoidable property of the product.

All summerhouses or log cabins, which are constructed from wood, will shrink or swell according to weather conditions, and along with warping are natural properties of wood.

Complaints

If in the event of a complaint, the cause of the problem proves to be unreasonable extreme or severe circumstances or in case the product has been installed in rough/wet surrounding, the guarantee shall no longer apply as well as for products, which have not been treated (painted/protected) properly. In such case we shall be forced to charge you for call out costs, any labour costs and/or replacement of components etc.

Complaints for damage, visual defects or missing parts should be reported within 8 days from delivery or before assembling and treatment of the summerhouse.

Also, in the event of complaint, and the cause proves to be poor foundation or assembling errors the guarantee shall not apply.

Any missing or damaged parts will be delivered or replaced as soon as possible.

Building permission

Depending on the local authorities and size of building you may need planning consent if you intend to build a summerhouse in your garden. Your local council will give you any information you need. We can supply building drawings, of all Lugarde summerhouses and models free of charge. We also offer a planning permission service at an additional cost.

Preparation

A solid foundation is necessary for the installation of your summerhouse. Depending on soil type it has to be removed to a depth of approx. 15cm. Next fill in with yellow sand, compact or vibrate and than lay concrete slabs or put down concrete.

Make sure that the top of the floor is always above ground level and that it is absolutely level. This will prevent you from unnecessary problems. It is advisable to apply a layer of gravel around your summerhouse to prevent water from splashing up. Please contact us if you have any doubts about the foundation.

Delivery

All Lugarde summerhouses are packed in an environment-friendly film. Delivery will be through our local distributor. When home delivery has been agreed, the truck delivers the package at the roadside.

Assembly

Lugarde includes clear assembly instructions with every summerhouse. However for an additional charge Mayk Timber Buildings can construct the building for you.

Finish

All Lugarde summerhouses are delivered untreated.

Walls

All summer houses in the Prima and Fifth Avenue series consist of a unique 3=1 system, developed by Lugarde, where the moulded wall elements slide perfectly into the corresponding corner posts. The corner posts are reinforced with an invisible aluminium strip, a system that improves the durability of the summerhouse under all weather conditions.

The assembling system is simple and durable, and all wall elements are erected without nails or screws. The thickness of the wall elements is 28mm for summerhouses up to 300cm and 44mm for the models from 350 cm. For houses with a wall thickness of 28mm the wall elements are placed on pressure-impregnated foundation beams of 44mm x 70mm. Buildings with a wall thickness of 44mm are placed on foundation beams of 70mm x 70mm.

Roof

For summerhouses in the octagonal range until 300cm the roof is made up of 8 ready-to-use elements, both for thatched roofs and for shingle roofs. In all summerhouses from 350 cm across, the roof comes as a do-it-yourself construction kit and includes rafters, roof elements, shingles and decorative moulding (if applicable).

The roof covering is made of 19 mm. thick pine wood boards, which are completely prepared. In models from 350cm across thatching has to be done by local professional Thatcher.

Shingles

We offer a choice of 5 shingle colours: green, red, brown, black and bluish-grey.
Unless otherwise requested all buildings will be supplied with green shingles.

For an additional charge you can also opt for hexagonal shingles in the colours black and red or copper shingles.

Floor

A 19mm. thick pinewood floor is available as an option, including high-pressure-impregnated floor joists.

Windows and doors

You can combine or enlarge the doors and windows as you please, as long as the dimensions correspond to the summerhouse (i.e. will fit the wall size) of your choice.

Should you choose a size, which differs from the standard, dimensions there will be an additional modification cost for each alteration. All buildings with 44mm. wall elements can be delivered with double glazed (16 mm.) windows and doors. The relevant types are window PE44 and door PE45.

All single doors are supplied with standard opening left sided (as seen from the outside). If you want the door opening on the right, please order it that way. In case of double doors, the right door will open first. During construction the doors and windows are slipped over the wall elements from the top, together with the frames, creating a very stable structure.

Upkeep

All Lugarde summerhouses are delivered untreated and it is important to protect your summerhouse against the influence of sun, water and UV-light with a preservative soon after installation.
